Fine Imposed By Private Colleges

Hello
We see that nowadays private colleges impose fine(monetary penalty) on students be it missing the intime of college or missing some lecture. Can they do this legally?

A.Every institution and organization have their own rules and bylaws governed by their charter. The bylaws must mention all that they can do including the imposing fine or penalty and when you take admission in those institute they give a reference to hose rules and bylaws to which you agree and give your consent. Having said that it does not mean that they can fine and ask for any amount to be paid. The amount and the reason for fine should be reasonable and can not be arbitrary.
