Carpenter Dispute- Legal Notice received from LOKADALAT (Response ASAP) Carpenter Dispute- Legal Notice received from LOKADALAT (Response ASAP)

I have done my interior with a carpenter. As discussed I have done his settlement but he files a complaint at Police Station that we have not paid him full money and 1.53L rs is due to pay as per work taken. On police, I made him wrong and police asked him to give GST bill of work. that he failed to give. the case got closed there with our return statement. After 4months of that, he went to LOKADALAT and send me to notice for reconciliation at court on date 10.12.20. I need a strong Legal opinion on what I should do. I don't want to pay him money as it's the settlement I have done which he is not accepting and demanding more money for sake of nothing. We didn't sign any mutual agreement for work. Its small house interior total cost about 4L.

The immediate response to my query is really appreciable as I don't have much time.

A.1.53L is lot of pending amount.
they keep asking money everytime and no carpenter keeps this much due.

why same can not happen at lokadalat which happened in police station.
or you paid police to close the complaint ?
if no due then you can approach lokadalat.
you can even refuse to appear and later if case is filed then you can contest it.

Hope this clarifies,
