Regarding registration and stamp duty on property Regarding registration and stamp duty on property

A shop in Maharashtra was purchased in 1988 and the purchase payment was done in the same year, but agreement to sale was done in the year 2011, stamp duty along with penalty was paid in 2011, but registration was not done in 2011. Now what's the procedure to do registration in 2021 and whether new stamp duty has to be paid or only registration charges has to be paid ?

A.Hi,
You can approach the Sub-Registrar's office with documents proving ownership and they will register the property in your name. You will have to pay some nominal amount for stamp duty and registration, this will vary depending on the district's local laws.
