My EWS has been rejected by village accountant stating that i don't fit any criteria my income is below 8 lakh and my father doesnot have any residential property in his name but my deceased grandfather has a residential property of 600 sq yards of property which is not divided among 4 sons and 2 daughter and there is no will and also my dad name is there in ancestral property of 5.2 acres in which there are more than 30 members in that property.Village accountant denied my ews request statingbthat what if in future they (my fathers brothers ans sisters)sell their property to me. We live in rental house with income of 5lakh per annum.. please help me

A.Hi,
As per the narration of your facts, it seems that you belong to a rural background. Even if the village accountant denied issuing you the certificate, you have an alternative course. Fill in the application form and submit it along with your income proof and assets at the local tehsildar's office.

A.Hi,
You can still get your EWS certificate through the tehsildar's office. You have to submit the relevant documents along with your income proof, fill in the application form, and submit it in person at the District office.

A.Eligibility Criteria for EWS Candidates
Persons should not be covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs.
Family gross annual income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc.
should be below Rs 8 lac (Rupees eight lac only). Income shall also include income for the
financial year prior to the year of application.
Persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from
being identified as EWS, irrespective of the family income:
a) 5 acres of agricultural land and above
b) Residential at of 1000 sq ft. and above
c) Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
d) Residential, plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.


Documents Required for EWS Certificate
The necessary EWS Certificate documents required to apply for the application form are listed here.

Passport-sized photograph
Aadhaar card
ID Proof (Pan card, Voter ID, etc.)
Land/property documents
Affidavit/Self Declaration
Residential proof/Domicile Certificate
And other related documents



Authorities Issuing the EWS Certificate
The EWS certificate is issued by a Competent Authority, where they produce the Income and Asset certificate to the candidates. Then only the candidates can avail of the benefits under the EWS category. These competent authorities are:

District Magistrate (DM) /Additional District Magistrate (ADM) / Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Additional Deputy Commissioner/ First Class Stipendiary/ Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Executive Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner
Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate
Revenue Officer (not below the rank of Tehsildar)
Sub-Divisional Officer (or the area where the applicant or his family normally resides).



See if your Accountant is not cooperating then you can visit the District Magistrate Office or the BDO Office and seek the necessary help from there.
