A.Hi,
When a person dies intestate the transfer of certain assets to the heirs of the deceased requires a legal heir certificate. The legal heir certificate can be obtained by approaching the area/taluk Tehsildhar, or from the corporation/municipality office of the respective area, or from the district civil court.

A.Hello,

Its depends on state to state, as in Delhi you can file online application for Surviving member Certificate at Delhi Government website.
In UP you have to file application physically before the Tehsildar or District Magistrate office.
In Haryana you can obtain by filing on SARALHARYANA.gov.in

A.It depends on the state you belong to. Some states require you to file the succession petition in the district courts like Delhi, while others have option of filing the same before tehsildar or the district court.

Once the succession petition is filed, the court will require publication to invite objections, if there are no objections, the succession certificate is granted.
