Recently I bought a new charger adapter for my Laptop. The reseller had 2 options, either an original company charger, or a replacement charger made by other local companies which costs less.
I asked him for the original company one, but when I opened the box at home I found a lot of discrepancies and missing details like the barcodes outside the box and on the adapter were completely different, the power cable for adapter didn't have any barcode at all, the adapter didn't have any embossed logo, nor a manufacturing date. All these missing details were validated with my old charger, they were present on it.
So I went back to the reseller and asked him to give me a refund on which he said I can't do and asked me to deal with his supplier.

A.What would be of material to you is the bill that if was provided to you on the purchase by the reseller. If the bill have the details of the charger that was given to you and it can be summarily ascertained from the bill then a strong case before the consumer forum lies. In any event you can also file a case of cheating under IPC before the concerned police station and they will have greater access to investigate the charges and come to a more appropriate findings given their wherewithal and expertise.
