Travel abroad for studies - Husband will create problems Travel abroad for studies - Husband will create problems

Hi,
Have been married for five years and we don't have kids.
Me and my husband stay together for the sake of 'social status'. And has always made me feel insecure.

I wanted to pursue higher education and for which my husband is not supportive(neither my in-laws too) and he always expects me to 'be at his service' round the clock and he irritated and troubles me (harasses me verbally) if he finds me doing something "Constructive" for myself.

After all these years, I would like to do something purposeful/happy for myself.

What would be the right time to disclose my travel plan to him?.

What are the kind of actions he can take on me for me traveling? will he be able to file a "criminal complaint"

Is there any way for my in-laws to take legal action on me?

Anik

A.Hi,
The 1875 Majority Act (Indian Majority Act, 1875 earlier) According to clause 3(1) of the Indian Majority Act 1875, every individual residing in India must reach the age of majority when he or she turns 18 years old. As an adult, you have the freedom to do whatever you choose with your life. You do not need anyone's permission to study abroad because it is a basic human right.
Thank you.

A.Hi,
The Majority Act of 1875 (Indian Majority Act, 1875 earlier) As per section 3(1) of the Indian Majority Act 1875 every person domiciled in India shall attain the age of majority on completion of 18 years and not before. As an adult you have the freedom to do anything that you want as a person. You do not need the permission of anyone to study abroad because it is a fundamental right guaranteed under the Indian Constitution.
Thank you.

A.Dear Mam,

Your husband cannot file any criminal case against you if you travel anywhere. If he does not support you in any matter and you want to pursue your further studies, then, you can talk to your husband and discuss with them about it that you want to go for further studies out of India and later it is your decision whether you want to go or not.
