Poor, manipulative and careless service at brand service centre

I had visited the authorised brand service centre situated at Sushant Lok Phase I, Gurugram, Haryana to get my hair trimmer repaired on 31 August.
My complaint is that the service centre staff took the trimmer and unjustifiably charged me checking charges when I told them to return the item because I thought considering cost of repair it is not worthwhile to get the trimmer repaired and I had already told them the issue that the battery has to be replaced and did not ask them the issue. They did not tell the charges before taking the device and told them only after taking it.
The staff was extremely unprofessional. They were computing the value wrong in front of me. I was alert and caught them red handed, then they did not tell me they will be needing charger to test repaired item during first visit. Their excuse was that they thought they already had a charger. Please advice on how may I claim compensation for my harassment and unfair expenses due to their careless and manipulative behaviour and whether it will be worthwhile to claim for damages for such a small amount in consumer court.
You may get issue a legal notice and threaten to approach consumer Court for compensation.
