My rent agreement got expired on may2020 but we did not gave rent for month of april and may. We deposited 1 lakh rupees as security. When covid came we went to home in march 2020 and our owner cutoff the rent of 2 months from our security. Later he demanded rent as our luggage was still there so we told him to cut from security but now he is demanding more money for damage it’s been 2 years and he is threatening us and saying he will file a complaint.
We did not extended out agreement just on whatsapp we told him to cut from security.
Now he is demanding more money.
Can he do something legally in this matter?

A.Dear client,
Since your agreement expired in May 2020, you can take the legal route if he does not stop being so persistent. You can initiate civil action against by approaching a rent control board near you.
Thank you.

A.Dear Client,
If it is written that agreement is expired on may 2020 and you did not ask him to re-new the agreement he cannot renew it on its own. This matter can either be taken to Rent control board or civil court of your jurisdication.
Thank You.

A.Dear Client
Just ask him that what complaint is he will file and to whom? If he is thinking to got to police then he will have to devise a mechanism to file an FIR for this kind of situation. You need not worry as it seems his trick to not to return the security deposit to you.
