Want to find out the current situation of my inherited property.

My mother has land which is inherited by me and my brother (it is still in my mother's name). Can my brother show himself as the legal heir of the land in court and conquer the entire land. He took my signature on a piece of paper and he said it's regarding tax on the land so I didn't read the entire document. Recently I got to know he had taken a loan from a bank on behalf of the land, and as much as I know it's the only piece of land he has. Is there a way to find what is the current situation of that land?

For example if the bank has provided mortgage loan and the mortgage is registered then you can visit the sub-registrar office and enquire about it. Else you can got to the bank and seek the information.
