Can son be pressurized by law to shelter his parents even if his circumstances don't permit.
hi All, i am a Hindu man. recently my parents decided to sell their apartment and move to old-age home at their own will. they are not being forced, bullied or harassed to do so. i do not have any stake or interest in their money or property. in the future when they run out of energy, can i be forced by law to shelter them even if my circumstances don't allow? we faced multiple turmoil situations in the past, thus this query, any advise would help.

A.The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act,2007,as amended up to date has been enacted to provide financial security, welfare and protection for senior citizens so as a son you are legally bound to bear the maintenance cost of your parents and if in future they are unable to maintain themselves, they can claim upto Rs 10000/ per month from their children per month.

A.Dear Client,
yes, surely you can be held liable to maintain your parents. Even a criminal proceeding can also be initiated under 125 CrPC, if they resort to legal remedy. So, make sure to safeguard their interests.
Thank you

A.Dear Client
If the parents are not able to support themselves and if they resort to the law then as per the legal provisions you will be required to ensure protection, shelter and maintenance for them. So ensure that they are able to have proper place to live peacefully.
