Wrong Electricity bill

We are staying in a house whose electricity bill was not on our name till feb 2021. In feb 2021, We changed the connection name to our name and in sep 2021 electricity department Haryana(UHBVN) imposed the sundry charges for wrong bill given in sept 2020. And made the bill of Rs.17205
As the ownership has been changed, Do i am liable to pay the balance as the audit tooks place later after the name change.

The answer to this question will be provided by the electricity department as they have the copy of the rules and regulation under which they raise this kind of bills. Since you were staying in the house then it seems that you should be paying for it unless the previous owner is ok to pay that.
