While applying for public sector jobs (Central government), can a ST category candidate apply under UR category even after having a valid ST certificate as the candidate does not want to avail any ST reservation benefits due to personal reasons. Kindly clarify; 1. Can ST candidate apply under UR?
2. In doing so (applying under UR) amounts to disqualification at any stage of the selection process?

My answers are as follows:
1. Can ST candidate apply under UR?
Ans: Yes, you can apply for UR though you belongs to ST Category.
2. In doing so (applying under UR) amounts to disqualification at any stage of the selection process?
Ans: Such application does not amounts disqualification and on the other hand giving up your right to claim reservation under ST Category. Be informed that not to enclose your ST Category certificates along with your application.
