F1 renewal, DS-160 - To include 12-month OPT in the intended length of stay?
Hi,
I am applying to renew my F1 visa (which expires in a month) from my home country. My program (BS in Biological Sciences) end date indicated on I-20 is Dec 2022. As I have used not made use of CPT, I am automatically eligible for 12 months of OPT work permit. On the DS-160 prompt on "Intended length of stay", would it hurt to include the OPT period?
Since the current I-20 is only valid till Dec 22, I am concerned whether intention to stay beyond that would be grounds for denial of visa. I strongly prefer to visit home at least once a year. If my intended length of stay is 6 months, I am concerned of a short validity of the renewed visa and not getting enough time off from OPT to renew the visa again next summer.
Also, what is the likely duration of the visa given when there is a short period remaining for program completion like mine?
