legal heir when one of heirs passes away

When our father died we got a legal heir certificate that had me, my brother and mother as legal heirs. Now as our mother has passed away as well would the same legal heir certificate along with my mothers death certificate be suitable to claim the amount? Or would we need to get a fresh new legal heir certificate following our mother's death?

The legal heir certificate that you have already got should suffice along with your mother's death certificate. If you are going to claim anything related to your mother then the institution wherefrom you are going to claim might ask for a new legal heir certificate.
