Applied for a fresh passport I stead of renewal by mistake Applied for a fresh passport I stead of renewal by mistake

Recently I submitted fresh application form instead of reissue of passport by mistake for my son's application.
His passport is still valid for another 6 months, this was a merely negligence and mistake with no deliberate intention to suppress any information.

While applying online form I had uploaded copy of existing passport along with other documents and same was provided at the PSK when asked by the granting officer.

I missed to check the application receipt at counter A & B so same could not be rectified there.. I am asked to pay a fine of rs 5000 and application is kept on hold with future appointment date.

Please suggest if this penalty is valid? Can I wait for the file to be closed after 3 months and apply new form mentioning previous file details etc, will this save me with the penalty.

A.This is not a legal question but an administrative question that you should go and ask with PSK officials. Contact them and seek clarification from them. They should be able to tell and guide you properly.

Thank you sir for the information.. Ask for penalty was done by the granting officer at passport seva Kendra verbally, stating u should had filled a reissue application and not a fresh. I did explain that while filling online form I had selected reissue and the same error was caused by mistake and not deliberately, plus all the details mentioned on the form were factual with no change at all.. Since I did not had cash that time I was asked to comeback again to submit the file and penalty
