Father in law needs refund of house renovation!!! Father in law needs refund of house renovation!!!

My father in law who is a drunkard is demanding that he need to get Rs. 5 lakhs back that he spent on house renovation from us (my mother in law, my wife, and me). He is living in the house which is owned my mother in law, my wife, and me. His name is not in the deed.

We purchased the present house after selling the ancestral property that had been handed over to mother in law from her mother. He has not contributed any money for buying the present house. He has been working in the gulf for 35 years and had not been taking care of his family. He follows his sister's words and now is making ruckus daily at home. Last week had a quarrel and had filed a police complaint. After that he is very angry and says he will file a suite against us to get back the money he spent on house renovation. He has not even spent any money to get his daughter married.

I am living with my wife and kids in another district because of his arrogant behavior. Presently father in law and mother in law live together and he is going to file a case against us!!!

Is there any legal advantage for his claims? will this case stand in court? will we need to refund his money?

Thanks in Advance
