Reputation - someone trying to make bad reputation intentionally

when someone trying to make bad reputation intentionally by speaking something indirectly or directly or by doing some signal and get some more people to do so . how to file compliant against it.
A.Defamation is a civil wrong where the individual rights of a person are infringed. However, in India, a person can either file a civil suit against the person for defamation or initiate the criminal proceedings by filing a complaint as the remedy to defamation.
