Relatives harassing the family of Indian Army Personnel Relatives harassing the family of Indian Army Personnel

My father is an Ex-Army Person and right now serving in the Defence Service Corps in Hyderabad. We originally belong to Patna, Bihar. I am the eldest son, 26 years old. I am currently residing in New Delhi and working in an IT firm. I have a a younger brother, 24 years old, also working in an IT firm. He lives in Hyderabad with my parents since he is working from home.

A few days ago, my maternal uncle started calling my mother for my marriage. My mother refused the offer. But after a few days, he started calling on a regular basis and started giving threats to my parents to kidnap me and marry me off forcefully.

A few days ago, we came to know through our relatives on my father's side that he visited my home and told everyone that my father have agreed to the marriage. But we never agreed to any marriage proposal. In fact, we have not even visited our village for quite a long time. He started defaming my father and called him a liar in front of my village.

Some of them also told us that my uncle is planning to ask for RS20 lakhs if we cancelled the marriage proposal(they think that since my father is a govt. employee, we must be crorepatis)

My father is being harassed badly by them and is not able to handle the pressure anymore. Every day we hear of my uncle doing something new to defame us. My uncle is quite a well-known man with a bad reputation(past cases of involvement in crimes) and also has connections with the police over there. And my father is a very gentle man, just knows to follow his duty and has no big connections like my uncle.

Since we have no solid proof against my relatives, I do not know what to do. Please give me appropriate advice. Also, Is there any special help available for Indin Army Personnel?

A.Dear Client,
You can file a FIR against them. And also press charges for defamation of your father's reputation. Along with that you can also put a restraint order on them. So they stay away from you.

A.Your father may lodge a complaint before the local police authority against your uncle and if the police authority refuses to accept the complaint against him then also intimate the police commissionerate of the local police station where your father is residing then seek help of the judicial system to lodge an FIR against your uncle. You may take the help of an advocate to get the order of the magistrate to lodge an FIR for investigation u/s 156 (3) CrPC. Then the police authority will be bound to accept the complaint and treat the same as an FIR.
