A.You and your girlfriend may apply registry marriage under the provision of Special Marriage Act, 1954. For applying under this provision you need to approach the office of a marriage registrar either of your local jurisdiction or your girlfriend's local jurisdiction. Then you both have to fill up the marriage registry form and submit the same form before the marriage registrar along with the photocopy of Adhaar Card, Voter Card, Pan Card and Two Passport size photographs of both of you (having white background and wearing light colour dress). You need to wait for a time period of 1 (One) month and then a date will be issued to you vide online from the government portal. Then on that assigned date, both of you need to appear at the office of the said marriage registrar accompanied by 3 (Three) witnesses, it may be either parents or friends or relatives of either of you two. The witnesses need to be adult by age and must carry their Adhaar Card, Voter Card and Pan Card in original as well as xerox. You and your girlfriend should also carry the documents in original on the day of registry marriage. The rest procedure shall be done by the marriage registrar only.
