Verbal abuse by boyfriend

I am in 10 year relationship and he verbally abuses me like yelling bad names to me, he drinks alcohol and says irrelevant sentences and tries to scare me. I really don't want to marry him . He and his parents told he will change but I am really scared of his behaviour. Sometimes he is very caring and sweet and another time like this. And whenever I am confident with some tasks he says I have attitude. He tries to control what I should wear, how should my hair look, he buys me dresses and scolds me if I wear it when I go out with my sister or friends. And he tries to check my phone and if I keep denying he shouts on me. He wants me not to use social networking, tracks my online data on WhatsApp,if I talk to male Friends he fights with me. Whenever I try to leave him he cries and says he will harm himself. But he helped me in many things which let me ignore his bad and abusive behaviour. But I am tired now. What if he never change and if I marry him he does this every day. He just wants me to pamper him. He is very insecure. Sometimes he care about me but twice it happened I had my periods and I had bad pain and told him to ride bike slowly but intentionally he was riding it badly on street breakers and told me he was punishing me for something that I don't even remember. And last but not the least he is very gentle and kind person before everyone, very soft.
