Society is charging @ 24% interest on maintenance charges? Society is charging @ 24% interest on maintenance charges?

I have not paid society maintenance since last few years and now we are ready to pay the maintenance the chairman has asked for the interest at 2 % interest on every month and 24% interest on previous years. We asked to pay the maintenance without interest as we are not staying in the society and property is not used since long. Is it possible?

It depends on you if you can pay the full amount which is asked by the the society then you can pay the amount, but if you are not able to pay then you can settle it through Mediation so that you can also get some relief.
Hope it helps.
