Layoffs during pregnancy as per maternity act Layoffs during pregnancy as per maternity act

Hi, I am 32 weeks pregnant. And there have been layoffs going on in my company currently. My team members have been affected by the layoffs and no reason have been given. My manager is aware of my pregnancy. Please suggest if I can be fired legally. My maternity leave is yet to be started.

The employer cannot fire you while you are pregnant and due for maternity leave as that would be illegal.

Please share the part of the act that I can refer to for this kind of scenario. As I am being suggested from other sources that if I am not on maternity leave yet, I can still be laid off like other employees

A.Dear Client,
According to maternity act you cannot be fired but that is only if you have started taking the same. Without reason they cannot fire you.

So they can lay me off without giving any reason, if I do not start my maternity leave soon?
