Postman not ringing Bell while delivering letters to my house

The postman came to my house for delivering a registered letter..he did not ring calling bell (I was inside the house)
Afterwards I was informed to collect the letter direct from post office..what if they do this everytime,they need to ring the bell or knock the door some letters might be important
