A.Dear Mr Moitra,
It is not a question of owning or disowning.Wife is an individual and not a property. Since you can not own the question of disowning does not arise.
What you can do is to file a divorce to be separated from each other..Divorce is better word and legal word and acceptable in the society we live in.
For that matter you need to talk to a Lawyer who can advice you on the subject.

Advocate

A.Dear Sir
Legally not possible without court divorce. But SC recognised even divorce by customary methods saying you have divorced her orally or having drawn a panchanama or mahazar in the presence of elders of the village

A.Disown, you cannot do that, remember she also consented to marry you, when you both were married, so no one party can break the marriage both have to work it out if there is no agreement then the law has given legal options where one party can get a divorce or judicial separation from the other party but there have to be some grounds like adultery, any disease which cannot be cured or sex problem, unsound mind, cruelty and etc.

A.There is no way (legally defined) to disown one's wife. If you want to get separated then you will have to file a case of either judicial separation or dissolution of marriage (divorce)
