Correction of Name in Marriage certificate

I need to correct my parents name in their marriage certificate. Visited the bandra marriage officer wer they got married and he said it's not doable. As the names Wer given by themselves my parents at the time ?
Can anyone plz advice me on how to go abt its really important. Would really appreciate

A.you can file an affidavit for such name change with relevant documents and get that authorised by a judicial magistrate of 1st class. The affidavit should be duly notarized.
