Society Issue
There are 5 or 6 members who have kept a Ganpathi idol and have been doing Puja's since January till more than a month ago. We live in a cosmopolitan building with Muslims and Christians. This Idol has only been placed in one wing and not in the other two wings. Many have objected to keeping it there from all religions. There are a few religions fanatics or radicals who have caused so much unrest and have disturbed the peace by doing this. The person who kept it there in the first place was the ex-Secretary of our society committee and his wife. All this was happening and the Secretary then never addressed the issue after it being brought up by many members in our group with 158 members. The Secretary finally agreed to move it more than a month ago with a message in the main group to all the members however he and the Chairman decided to play games and make a police complaint, not an official one just to threaten one specific Muslim member. Since then the entire society lives in fear for no reason. There is no official complaint to the police but this was done to scare the other members to back off. The Chairman and secretary have now officially resigned and the rest of us are continuing the committee towards the betterment of the society. What do we do to get the idol removed in the right religious process from our society? We want to make sure our society is not a religious sanctuary for all religions but only a place of residence. The idol has been in the lobby of B wing for months now which is against the bylaw as well. The complaint to the police was made verbally by the Chairman, Secretary and 3 of their male friends in B wing. They have also lied verbally to the police. Kindly advise.
