Car Carrier Allow or Not

Hello sir, I have 7 Seater Triber Car, in which I have installed roof carrier. Some time traffic police asking to pay challan. I have not clarity it should install or not. As per some video on YouTube it's allowed to install. I request you kindly send some proper documents to prove that it's allowed.

Dear Client,
There is no prohibition in the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 against the installation of luggage carriers atop private four-wheelers to carry the luggage of passengers of that vehicle. There is no requirement to take prior permission for installing the carrier either. Installation of carriers is completely legal irrespective of the type of car you are driving down the road. Hence, no official or police will be able to give you a challan or fine you for a carrier on the rooftop of your private, registered car. For any harassment on the road by traffic police, reach out to the office of the concerned RTO to navigate the issue in the right way.

Dear Sir/Madam,
it depends upon circulars issued by the transport department of your state Govt. you may please contact RTO office and get permission in writing to avoid future complication.
