Chair lift installation

I own a 3 storey building.Completely privately owned.I plan to install a chair lift in my building.Not the usual,commercial elevator,but a chair lift/stair lift ,which involves a single chair moving up and down a staircase mounted railing.Do I need to get permission from the electrical inspectorate of my state ,for this ? There will be , obviously, no change /alteration in the building exterior .Nor is this a commercial lift with a door/pulley etc.

Dear Client,
Lift licenses are currently required in 10 Indian States, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. As per IS 15259:2002 Clause 5, a home lift shall have a load capacity of not less than 204 kg (three passengers) and not more than 272 kg (four passengers), and a car speed not exceeding 0.2 m per second. A two-person lift is not recommended for various technical reasons. The construction, maintenance, and safe operation of lifts are governed by the Lifts Acts and Rules. These regulations are specific to certain states in India and outline the legal requirements for lifts within those jurisdictions. Therefore, it is better to take a glance at the state’s rules for precise information on the subject.
