Dear Client,
Their are several legal and administrative options to take action against a police officer who misbehaved with you without any proof during an inquiry:
First you can file a Complaint with Higher Authorities like Superintendent of Police (SP) or Commissioner of Police or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) or Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of your district. Mention the details of the incident, including date, time, location, and the officer's name.
Secondly you can also involve National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) or State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) if the officer used abusive language, harassed you, or violated your fundamental rights.
Thirdly you can preferred a Private Complaint in Magistrate Court where the court may direct an inquiry into the officer's behavior.
or Seek Compensation under Article 226 in the High Court you can approach the High Court for appropriate relief.
If you are unable to follow the process take help from an Advocate.
