Reclaim my policy

My cousin Chirag had a LIC Jeevan Shree policy. After paying 2-3 installments, he needed money, and my father reimbursed him. I continued paying the premiums, and Chirag signed a letter gifting the policy to me, Kavita Shah. In 2015, I found an assignment form with his signature and the agent’s stamp, but it was never submitted. Recently, LIC records showed the policy reassigned to my sister, Hemali, in 2012. However, LIC admitted scanning the documents recently, which I believe was fraudulently done in 2023 with the help of Hemali’s husband, Keyur (an LIC agent). I seek legal action to challenge this reassignment, investigate LIC’s role, and reclaim my policy. Please advise on the next steps.

Dear Client,
Assignment is the transfer of interest under the policy, either absolutely or conditionally, by the Assignor (policyholder) to the Assignee. A policyholder may transfer or assign a policy at any time, by way of endorsement on the policy itself or by a separate instrument in writing. A policyholder can assign their policy to someone else as a gift. The insurance company needs to be notified about the assignment, and the assignment must be documented and endorsed by the insurer. Assignments are usually irrevocable, meaning it's difficult to transfer them back to the original owner once the policy is assigned. Insurance agents appointed by the Insurance company under the Insurance Agents Regulations, 2000 must adhere to a code of conduct specified by IRDAI. Your query sounds suspicious activities behind the assignment and reassignment of an insurance policy. So, you can escalate your grievance before the LICI, the regulatory Authority IRDAI, the Insurance Ombudsman, failing which you can file a complaint over deficiency in service against the LICI before the Consumer Commission, claiming appropriate relief and compensation for harassment. Apart from this, you can file a complaint against the malpractice of a registered company online to the Financial Intelligence Unit(FIU) - India, a wing of the Ministry of Finance or at their email address at complaints[at]fiuindia[dot]gov[dot]in or in offline mode to their office address available on their official Website. FIU-IND is the central national agency responsible for receiving, processing, analyzing and disseminating information relating to suspect financial transactions and an independent body reporting directly to the Economic Intelligence Council (EIC) headed by the Finance Minister for a resolution in the matter. Further, Project VIGEYE (Vigilance Eye) is a citizen-centric initiative, wherein citizens join hands with the Central Vigilance Commission in fighting corruption. Users can lodge their grievances and complaints online.

Dear Madam,
It seems there is negligence on the part of LIC agent and LIC office stuff people. You may get issue a strong legal notice and then file a complaint before consumer forum claiming huge compensation thus you may get justice.
