Many Banks bluffing like that and taking subsidy amount from the borrowers. If you are able then get details of such subsidy amount released by the Government in your favour otherwise you may close the account by paying such amount and start your new career.

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, has been implementing the Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS) Scheme since 2009. Canara Bank has been appointed as the Nodal Bank for the implementation of the scheme. You may pursue the matter with the head office of the Canara Bank. Unless the interest subsidy is received by the Bank under the Scheme(CSIS), the Bank cannot waive the interest on the education loan. In the given scenario, you may pursue the matter with the Canara Bank, who is appointed as the nodal agency under the said Scheme to resolve the issue; failing which, you may escalate your grievance to the regulatory authority RBI, online on its grievance redressal portal under the Integrated Banking Ombudsman Scheme at https://cms.rbi.org.in for a quick resolution in the matter.
