Dear Client,
Yes, a family pensioner receiving pension from the Telangana Government can legally transfer her pension bank account from Hyderabad to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.
As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Department of Pension guidelines, pensioners are allowed to shift their pension accounts across branches and states, provided the new branch is authorized to handle pension payments. The pensioner needs to submit a written request to the current bank branch along with necessary documents such as the PPO number, KYC details, and information of the new branch.
The current bank branch is responsible for forwarding the request to the new branch, which will then open the account and coordinate with the Pension Disbursing Authority. While some banks may ask for confirmation from the Pension Payment Office, such confirmation is not a legal requirement if the request is complete and properly documented. If the bank insists unnecessarily or delays the process, the pensioner may approach the bank's regional office or file a grievance through the RBI or state government portals.
