Dear Client,
EWS certificates are typically issued to individuals belonging to economically weaker sections of society, regardless of their caste or religion. EWS Certificate is for those who belong to the General Category but whose annual income is less than 8 lakhs per annum. An EWS Certificate remains valid for the relevant fiscal year that ended on 31st March of the year irrespective of its date or month of issue during the relevant fiscal year and thereafter, it requires renewal for revalidation of the certificate for the relevant fiscal year. When the EWS certificate was issued in 2022 for the fiscal year 2022-23 showing the family income as Rs.45,000/- per annum instead of income between 5-6 lakhs that is also below the threshold limit of income, would not make any issue in future. As the certificate of 2022-23 becomes invalid post-renewal of certificate for FY 2023-24, no correction is required.
