Clarification Regarding OBC-NCL and OBC-CL Status
I am really confused about whether I fall under the OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) or Creamy Layer (CL) category. While researching, I have come across two different interpretations: 1. If the family income is above ₹8 lakh, then the candidate falls under the Creamy Layer. 2. The ₹8 lakh income criterion depends on the nature of the parent's service and the level of their first posting. My father works in South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Miniratna company and a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, which is a Central Government PSU. He joined as a general mazdoor, which is equivalent to Group D. His current income is above ₹8 lakh. However, he is over 40 years old and has not entered Group A or B services, nor has he taken up any managerial or board-level position. I am preparing for the UPSC civil services exam and want to be completely certain about my category status to avoid any complications in the future. Kindly guide me with official references or documentary proof, if available, which I can keep for future use. Thank you.
