OBC NCL CERTIFICATE ISSUE PROBLEM

The eligibility for an OBC NCL certificate is determined based on the annual income of the applicant's parents if the income falls below Rs. 8 lakh in a financial year. The central government and state governments maintain separate lists of castes eligible for reservation benefits. A state caste certificate is only valid within the state where it is issued, while a central caste certificate is valid throughout India. A caste certificate issued by the concerned authority of UP or Delhi, even if valid for state-level reservations, may not be eligible for central government reservations if the caste is not listed in the Central List of OBC for that states. Based on your state caste certificate, you can apply for a central caste certificate to a competent authority like the Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Thus, a central OBC NCL certificate is mandatory for central government employment. So, verify and ensure whether your caste is included in the Central List of OBCs of UP and apply to the relevant central government authority or a competent officer in your district for a central OBC NCL certificate. However, if you have a birth certificate from Kanpur, UP, you can apply for a caste certificate from the concerned authority of Kanpur, UP, attaching an affidavit explaining the reason behind your application for the issue of a caste certificate from Kanpur, but it depends on the decision of the State Level Caste Scrutiny Committee.
