Dear Client,
The correction of the date of birth on a class 10 mark sheet is a complex process and may be challenging after a lapse of a certain period of time from the date of issuance. It is often easier to correct errors within one year of the results being declared. When you have a birth certificate issued by the Municipal Authority showing DOB as 1995 or 1996 that mismatch with your 10th mark sheet, you need to obtain a corrected Birth Certificate from the Municipal authority/Tehshildar office post notarization of an affidavit stating the error, publishing in a local newspaper, followed by obtaining a Gazette notification for correction of your date of birth and on receipt of corrected birth certificate, you can apply to the J & K Board of School Education in the prescribed application form which can be downloaded from their official website (https://jkboses.com/downloadforms.html) along with the copy of said corrected birth certificate for correction of date of birth in your 10th mark sheet and should be submitted to the head of the school or institution where you studied class 10 for their verification and endorsement. Post verification and endorsement by the head of the school, the application form shall be submitted before the J & K Board of School Education for updating your DOB in their record. However, the Board may ask for an affidavit and newspaper publication followed by a Gazette notification and a Court’s order directing the board to make the correction for updating their records and in that case, you have to file a civil suit in the district court seeking a direction for correction of date of birth in class 10 mark sheet. For updated information and clarification on the subject, you may contact or visit the office of the School Board to navigate the matter in the right way.
