Delay in Passport Renewal

Common reasons for delay in re-issue/renewal of passport includes delay in submission of Police Verification Report or adverse Police Verification reports, incorrect documents, personal data mis-match amongst others. However, in case of inordinate delay, you may contact or visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the Regional Passport Office (RPO) if you need direct help or you may escalate your grievance online using the "Feedback / Grievance" link on the Passport Seva website which generates a Service Request Number (SRN) for tracking the status of grievance. In case your grievance yields no progress, you can escalate your grievance using the Centralized Public Grievances Redress And Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal. And finally, you may submit your grievance to the Joint Secretary and Chief Passport Officer, who acts as Appellate Authority under the Passports Act, 1967 and the Head of Department under the Delegation of Financial Powers Rules 1978 seeking early processing of your application for re-issue/renewal of passport.
