How to make my doctor not to disclose my psychological evaluation to my parents. How to make my doctor not to disclose my psychological evaluation to my parents.

I'm from India and the thing is my parents went with me to get me diagnosed for schizophrenia.

And there were some documents (I don't know what) and they had to sign them before I get evaluated

Now the thing is that the doctors might be planning to not give me the evaluation report or planning to hand it to my parents but I don't want my parents to look at my psych eval. I am 22 year old and the psychologist said that I might have a personality disorder and they reason for that is that when I was a kid, me and my brother were physically abused to extreme conditions. Can I use a law to make them hand my evaluation reports to me and not to my parents?

A.This is little tricky. As you are an adult you do have full right and control over your life and hence you can decide what to disclose to whom and what not. But since you went to a psychiatrist and the documents that you have signed may have mentioned about your parents who can collect the report then they are eligible to take and know about it. Secondly in these kind of cases there has to be a guardian to whom the matters can be reported and discussed.

Also as you mention that you have been abused by your parents and because of that you don't want the outcome of the diagnosis to be revealed to them. I would suggest you visit your Doc and tell him that you don't want the report to be shared with anyone else.
