Recovery Harassment by Liquiloan for UpGrad Course I Did Not Continue
I enrolled in an online course through UpGrad and the payment was financed through Liquiloan. However, I did not continue with the course and informed the concerned parties about the same. Despite this, I continued to pay the EMI for almost three years. Even after repeatedly informing them that I was not pursuing the course, neither UpGrad nor Liquiloan made any proper effort to resolve the issue. UpGrad also reached out to Liquiloan to discuss the matter, but Liquiloan did not cooperate or attempt to find a solution. Recently, I have started receiving threatening messages from recovery agents asking me to confirm my address and stating that they will start legal action. I believe this is harassment because I have already paid for a long time despite not continuing with the course, and the issue was never properly addressed. I want to know: 1. Can they legally send recovery agents or threaten legal action in this situation? 2. What legal remedies do I have against this harassment? 3. Can I file a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act for mental harassment and unfair recovery practices? 4. What steps should I take to stop these recovery calls and messages?
