Under the Karnataka digital e-stamp system, the e-stamp serves as proof of payment of stamp duty, while execution of the document must still be completed either through digital signature or by physical signing after printing. In general practice, especially for civil court purposes, parties continue to sign the printed document manually. In the case of a General Power of Attorney, notarization is usually required to authenticate the execution and identity of the parties. Even though the digital e-stamp format may not contain a specific column for notary attestation or advocate identification, such endorsement can be made after printing, where the Notary Public affixes seal and signature with a suitable endorsement, and identification by an advocate may also be added in the usual manner.
