Dear client,
This is a sensitive service-law issue, and you should not make any changes casually, because your appointment and benefits are tied to the category under which you were recruited.
You cannot simply change your category in the service book from SC to General after appointment, especially if your job was obtained using SC reservation. Doing so without proper legal process can create serious complications, including scrutiny of your appointment.
Even though your caste status has now been corrected to General category by the Block Development Officer and your documents have been updated accordingly, the category recorded in your service book reflects your position at the time of appointment and cannot be altered without proper departmental and legal scrutiny. The appropriate course of action is to submit a formal written representation to your Head of Office or the Establishment/HR section, enclosing your updated caste certificate and the relevant order from the Block Development Officer, and request guidance regarding correction or annotation in your service records. The department may either retain your original SC entry with a note of the updated status or initiate verification, depending on the circumstances. It is also advisable to seek guidance from a service law advocate before making such a representation, so that your interests are protected and no adverse inference is drawn regarding your initial appointment.
