Transfer during maternity leave

Under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, maternity leave is a statutory right and cannot be withdrawn retrospectively without valid reasons, and since you were made to sign the register and no communication regarding cancellation was given during your leave period, it clearly indicates that your leave was accepted by the authorities, making the school head’s current threats unjustified, so you should immediately submit a written representation detailing the entire sequence of events to the school head and mark a copy to the higher authority such as the District Education Officer, while preserving all documents like leave sanction, joining report, and proof of rejoining, and if any adverse action like salary stoppage or harassment continues, you can escalate the matter legally as such retrospective cancellation is generally not sustainable in law.
