Police leaked our identity after complaint
Yesterday around 2 AM, some people from a nearby community were playing very loud DJ music near our house in Ahmedabad. We called police helpline 100 and specifically requested the police to keep our name and mobile number confidential. However, the police disclosed our details to those people. After that, several people gathered near our house, started harassing us, shouting, intimidating us, and indirectly threatening us. We called the police 3 more times but no police officer came to help. We now genuinely fear for our safety and risk to life. This is not the first time that police have ignored complaints unless something serious already happens. We are afraid that even if physical violence happens, police may only act afterwards and force us to come to the police station for complaints. What legal steps can we take immediately for protection? Can we complain against the police for revealing our identity and failing to respond? Should we approach higher police officials, magistrate, human rights authorities, or file something in court? What evidence should we collect now to protect ourselves legally?
