Dear Sir,
You may proceed against both the bus operator and the booking platform such as redBus. The bus operator is mainly responsible for providing the actual transport service, while the booking platform may also be liable if it displayed misleading information, incorrect seat configuration, or failed to resolve your complaint properly despite being informed.
Before filing a formal case, you should preserve all evidence, including:
Ticket booking confirmation,
Screenshot of the seat layout and bus description shown at booking time,
Payment receipt,
Photographs of the actual bus/seats,
Complaint emails or chat records with customer support,
Details of delay and inconvenience caused.
You may first send a written legal notice or email demanding:
Refund of fare,
Compensation for inconvenience and mental harassment,
Clarification regarding misleading advertisement.
If they still refuse relief, you can file a complaint before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission having jurisdiction over your residence or the place where the booking/payment was made. Under the Consumer Protection Act, online ticket booking platforms and transport operators are considered service providers and can be held liable for deficiency in service.
