Dear Madam,
you may submit a written request to the builder or the concerned development authority seeking inclusion of your husband as a joint allottee/co-owner in the conveyance deed. Normally, the following documents may be required:
Marriage certificate or proof of marriage
Joint bank account statements showing payment of installments
PAN and Aadhaar cards of both spouses
NOC or prescribed application form from the builder/authority
Payment of administrative or processing fee, if applicable
If the registry has already been completed solely in your name, your husband can still be added later through a registered gift deed or release deed transferring an undivided share in the property to him. In Haryana, transfer between spouses through a gift deed generally attracts concessional stamp duty compared to normal sale transactions. After registration of such deed, both names can appear in the ownership records.
Having both spouses as co-owners is often beneficial for housing loans, tax benefits under the Income Tax Act, succession planning, and avoiding disputes in future. Banks also commonly prefer co-ownership when both spouses are co-borrowers in a home loan.
