Nullification of Marriage

This on behalf of my friend. She (from Kerala ) had been in a relationship and has now broke up. However during her relationship, her ex has registered a marriage under TamilNadu Marriage act in Madurai ( guy from Madurai ) saying false words. But no marriage was solemnized. Also, the place where he has claimed that the marriage has happened is not a valid one and other marriages that took place in that venue has been nullified ( have court judgements )in other cases. Now, how to go further to nullify this certificate ? Also can this be done at the girl's hometown ?
