If the amount received is a tax exempt payout under a money back life insurance policy and is not taken into account as gross income under the Income Tax Act, it is generally not included as gross income for EWS eligibility merely because it was credited to your father's bank account. The fact that no TDS was deducted or that it does not appear in the AIS is not, by itself, conclusive.
The competent authority will determine EWS eligibility based on the applicable Central Government guidelines, the nature of the receipt, and the income considered under the Income Tax Act. The exact treatment of the amount will depend on whether it forms part of the gross income for income tax purposes.
