Divorce maintenance

I work in ship earn 25 lakhs, court order to pay maintenance of 70 k per month in 2024. I also paying for house wifeand 2 kids 3 month back,I suffered medical issues, so doctor told to take rest. Or avoid physical demanding job. Now I am job less i cannot pay this much maintenance now

Dear Client

If there has been a material change in your financial circumstances after the maintenance order was passed, such as loss of employment due to a genuine medical condition, you may approach the same court seeking modification or reduction of the maintenance amount. You should produce your medical records, doctor's opinion, and documents showing your unemployment and present financial condition.

Until the court modifies the earlier order, you are expected to comply with the existing maintenance order. Therefore, you should file the appropriate application without delay seeking interim relief or reduction based on your changed circumstances.

You may consult a local lawyer or advocate to file an application for modification of the maintenance order before the competent court.
