Traffic Signal Jumped Traffic Signal Jumped

3 days back, I accidently jumped a red light while taking the left turn. The incident happened because there was a seperate fork given to take left turn and zebra crossing at the fork was not clearly visible. However the traffic police personnel imposed a fine of INR 200 and forfeited my licence. He also told me that my licence will be suspended for 3 months. Further, I went to the traffic police station to pay the fine but concerned person was not available and was told to come after 3 days (on Thursday told to come on Monday). I wish to have a legal opinion whether licence can be suspended for such a minor mistake, that too when it was made due to circumstances.

The Police Officer cannot do like that as you have paid the fine and he cannot forfeit your license you may challenge such action of police either before higher Police Officers or Court.
